About the event
Adopting the right mindset toward student behaviour can be the difference between a frustrated teacher and a calm, regulated one who can effectively support students in shifting their behaviour. It’s not about being punitive, where students are punished, nor permissive, where no boundaries are set. By moving away from punishment, we can view behaviour as a non-verbal expression of a student's struggle to regulate their emotions and engage their thinking brain.
This perspective turns behaviour into an opportunity for students to learn emotional regulation and develop the ability to think before they act.
In this webinar, we will explore the science behind student behaviours and delve into:
• Practical strategies to help students calm down,
• Methods for having constructive conversations about behaviour and consequences (if appropriate), and
• When and how to engage additional support systems.
